Selena
She was a singer, performer and designer and broke barriers in the world of music. She was an Mexican American artist who was both traditional and modern. She brought together both worlds and brought Tejano music into the mainstream. Her sudden passing that shattered the rising star's image. That's what happens to a lot of stars who die far too young. Fans have struggled throughout the years to preserve her legacy. Selena, the Tejano singer who fatally shot dead by a gunshot accident caused a Latino reaction that can be thought of as similar to the reactions to John Lennon's deaths. Selena was a hugely loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her music touched both the young and old. Selena has been called by some as the Latina Madonna, however she's still a fantastic character model. Selena's off-stage family values as well as her involvement with AIDS awareness programs provide a great example.
